++ // Flower Problem // Oyeme++, is a female-fronted doom-gaze band from Chicago, formed in 2022. The group features Abigail (bass and vocals), Dove (guitar), Ethan (drums), and Hunter (synth). The ++ sonic palette is a fusion of doom metal, post-punk, and shoegaze, a unique blend that sets them apart in the musical landscape.

Chicago three-piece Flower Problem makes colorful, relentless music laden with rhythmic and sonic experimentation. Violinist and vocalist Scott Daniel is a prolific collaborator on the local scene, appearing regularly with the likes of Friko, Hannah Frances, Sarah Weddle, Case Oats, and Family Junket. As a bandleader, their approach is similarly collaborative, drawing from over a decade of shared musical history with bassist Cay Allan and drummer Jonah Lazarus. The results, hovering somewhere between art rock and Midwest emo, are magnetic and unpredictable.

Wedding energetic folk with experimental electronic textures and a resounding “get me the hell out the suburbs” sentiment, Oyeme and her band stretch the distance from Appalachia to downtown Chicago by folding the map in half and poking a hole through it with a pencil. On the upcoming EP “Dead End Neighborhood,” Oyeme embarks on her first non-solo outing exploring intimate five-piece midwestern folktronics and elemental road trip throw downs.

Pleasure Pill
Pleasure Pill were raised in San Diego’s underground scene, spending their young adult years skating together, going to DIY punk gigs, and putting on shows in community centers. Lead singer and project founder Jonah Paz, along with his brother Ethan (rhythm guitar) and friends Luke Blake (lead guitar), Ivan Delgado (bass) and Dom Friedly (drums) learned self-sufficiency and dedication early on – ideas that drive the way they operate today. “The DIY ethos teaches you at a very young age that you have to do everything yourself because no one else is going to do it for you,” says Luke. “We’re not waiting on someone else to do stuff for us – we would just rather do it ourselves.” Pleasure Pill are a pop band with stadium-sized ambition; they want to make the best music possible, and be as big as their idols while doing it. But they’re not giving up their values.
